Rule of thumb: every 2 hours for puppies, older dogs and dogs prone to car sickness, every 2.5 hours for other adults, within the 2–3 hour range welfare groups give. Add 15–20 minutes per stop to your arrival time. Ask a vet if your dog's car sickness is more than a bit of drooling.
